Kate and I skiied at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. It's the main skiing destination in Jackson Hole. We each took a class and were using the chairlifts and green slopes in no time at all. The highlight of the day was seeing some visitors on the slopes in the afternoon - a moose and her calf.

Kate and I headed out to Yellowstone National Park on a full day snowmobile trip with Goosewing Ranch on Tuesday. We left early for a long trek into the park. It was snowy in the morning, but everything cleared up for the afternoon and we got to see some beautiful sights. It took us about two hours to get to Old Faithful. We ate lunch and then saw it erupt at about 12:15 PM. After lunch we headed back through the park and had a chance to stop to see some beautiful sights - bison grazing, moose, the Teton mountains, some waterfalls, and a couple in our group getting engaged!

We took today as a rest day and hung out around town and our bed and breakfast. We'll be skiing or snowshoeing tomorrow, depending on the weather and what reservations we can make.

Kate and I headed out with the whole crew this morning to go dog sledding with Jackson Hole Iditarod Dog Sled Tours. We took a three hour ride through the Bridger Teton National Forest. We even got a chance to lead the dogs on the sleds ourselves. It was an amazing experience!

Jackson Hole Elk Refuge

Sunday, February 12, 2006

Kate and I visited the National Elk Refuge today and took an hour long sleigh ride around the park. Got close to lots of animals and saw coyotes, bald eagles and elk - no bison yet.

Excited to be moving forward on my winter project...a large granny square afghan with brightly colored yarn. We'll see how long it takes me to complete.

So glad Kate brought over a cake mix and frosting container as a thanks-for-letting-me-stay-with-you gift. Just like old times at our Alfalfa Lane house. This time it's lasted a bit longer than breakfast!

Worcestershire Sauce

It all started with Rachel Ray's German Cheddar and Beer Fondue recipe...Jon's quest to learn how to properly pronounce Worcestershire Sauce correctly, that is. As we wandered around the store searching for the ingredients, I was treated to Jon's various attempts at pronouncing "Worcestershire" again and again.

And, for the record, it's pronounced like this: Worcestershire Sauce
