We just finished a three day temple/shrine hopping trip to Kyoto and Nara. Everything was absolutely amazing and I'm not sure I'll ever get around to posting pictures of all the sites we saw...in the meantime, here are a few.
Todai-ji temple...home of a 56ft tall Buddha statue.
My favorite part of the trip so far was our dinner at a zen garden restaurant at Ryoan-ji temple. We had a vegetarian zen meal of boiled tofu and spices. It was delicious...but the best part was definitely the view...so serene and peaceful. This has got Jon and I dreaming of ways to transform our backyard into a private little oasis. We'll see.
Jon has been missing our little kitties terribly and has been complaining that there are no cute animals in Japan for him to pet...that is, until today. Nara is known for its friendly sika deer and Jon took the opportunity to make quite a few friends today (feeding them crackers helped too!). This animal fix should him over for a few days!
